Tiyasa Bag: From Sumba to the World

Local creativity once again takes the global stage—this time, through a handbag that is simple in form yet rich in meaning. A product of Tiyasa, a local Indonesian brand, was selected as the official souvenir presented by Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky, to France’s Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati.

This bag is more than just a gift. It is a symbol of cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and sustainability—values that Tiyasa has embraced since its founding. Made from ikat Sumba Pahikung, a traditional woven fabric from East Nusa Tenggara, the bag tells a story of Indonesia’s rich textile traditions.

Each strand of thread is handwoven using age-old techniques, then enhanced with modern details and elegant finishes that make the design relevant on the international stage. What’s more, Tiyasa uses natural dyes, ensuring the production process remains eco-conscious and sustainable.

It takes between 4 to 6 months to complete a single bag—a testament to the idea that true beauty is never rushed, but crafted with patience and passion.

At Tiyasa, we believe that Indonesian local products deserve a special place in the eyes of the world. And now, through this meaningful creation, we are proud to bring the story of Sumba all the way to Paris.

Tiyasa — From the Heart of the Archipelago, To the World.
